Bethel is a proud member, since 2004, and served on the Board of Directors from 2005 through 2010. She is an active member of the Grants, Membership, Education, and Finance Committees, and has held leadership positions in both the Grants Committee and the Membership Committee.

Bethel has been involved with the Komen organization since 2003, when she first participated in the 3 Day Walk.  Since then, she has walked it six times (all in San Diego), and crewed it twice (Arizona and Seattle), raising over $63,000 for the cause in the process.  She also participates in the San Diego Race for the Cure each year, and was one of the top fundraisers in 2009. She is now proud to serve on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Affiliate, as of 2008.
